MUSIC & CREATIVE ARTS @ the West Suburban YMCA

Our Mission: The Creative Arts Department fosters joy and creativity through holistic artistic instruction within a brave space for students of all levels to explore without the fear of making mistakes.

Here at the WSYMCA Creative Arts Department, our music programs provide unique opportunities for self-expression and community connections. Learning a new instrument can improve your memory, raise your grades, and help to reduce stress! Whether you are a 3rd grader learning an instrument for the first time or a parent picking up their clarinet after 10+ years, our private lessons are the best way to make music a regular part of your day.

So ... pick up an instrument, a microphone, or a pair of headphones and allow yourself to explore at the Y!

Our music studio offers private lessons and programs for all ages and abilities all year long. Our private music lessons are customized to each student’s ability, style, and musical interest. The instructor and student determine work together to set immediate- and long-term goals while navigating through music on their chosen instrument(s). We offer lessons in the following areas:

  • Private Music Lessons - Learn a new instrument or improve your skills on an old instrument with one-on-one instruction from a qualified musical professional. Instruments include bass (electric + upright), drumset, guitar, piano, ukulele, and voice.
  • Music Production - Learn the latest music and recording technology to create your own music and content through weekly private lessons.
  • Music Theory -  Learn to read music, discuss musical styles and genres, and analyze chord progressions.
